UNDERSTANDING PHENYLKETONURIA (PKU)

Phenylketonuria PKU is a rare hereditary condition. It affects the individual's capacity to process an amino acid called phenylalanine. Typically, the organs creates an enzyme known as phenylalanine hydroxylase, which transforms phenylalanine into tyrosine. In people who have PKU, this enzyme lacks function properly. As a result, phenylalanine incr
